February sweater finished

I finished this February sweater last night using Cherry Tree Hill Supersock DK in serengeti on size 2 Addie lace needles. It was such a pleasure to knit. I am wondering if anyone out there has altered the pattern for an adult sized sweater? I would love any input, tips, tricks if you have done one. Thanks!

  • You have 2 choices:
EZ's Adult Baby Surprise Jacket (Spun Out #1) - or knit the baby version on hugh needles wiith thick wool (about 2-1/4 to 2-1/2 sts to 1"). A few adjustments: cast on Invisibly for easy sleeve-lengthening; eliminate 'diaper-shaping'; eliminate cuff shaping (cast on an additional 18 sts to cover the two 9-stitch increases); adjust body length by number of Ridges knitted on back 'flap'...
    Onward, Meg

  • Actually, Jenny from Stash and Burn is making an adult Februray Sweater. Here are her notes so far... such a cool idea!

  • as i remember there is an account of the percentages in the almanac. maybe you can use them. it is pretty much the same idea as the fair isle yoke in the case knitted from the top down. and i suppose you could knit it as a bottom up sweater as well. if you prefer.

  • Hi, what a lovely sweater! May I ask what size you got? I have considered using sock wool, but was afraid this would get me too small a size.

  • Meg,

Since you brought up the adult suprise jacket, can you give us a sense of how much of the thick yarn would be needed? I would love to make one!

    Thank you.

  • I say make some swatches on heavier yarn (unless you're mad or inspired enough to knit a big person sweater on size 2's), sieze a calculator and bust a move with EPS - you'll feel so proud of yourself and you'll know Elizabeth is smiling down upon you! This one should be a lot easier to scale up than the Baby Surprise. Good luck - I'm sure your sweater will be fabuous!

  • Thanks Meg for the input even if it's the wrong sweater. I got pretty excited when I saw your comment, ;o)
    Anonymous,
I got a newborn size, I mean newborn 3-6 months. If I had moved up 2 needle sizes to Addi 4's I think it would be a little more drapey and still work well with a dk weight yarn. And thanks to goodkarma for the heads up on jenny.
